Two charged with second degree murder after Omemee shooting

Two residents of Bethany have been charged with second degree murder after an 18-year-old was fatally shot in Omemee.

Around 1 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 18), emergency crews responded to reports of a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The individual was taken to hospital where police say he succumbed to his injuries. He has been identified as Alexander Tobin.

Shortly after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 19), police issued a statement identifying the two accused in the shooting as Aaron Simmonds, 23, and Zachary Simmonds, 18, both of Bethany.

The accused appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay earlier Friday and have been remanded until February 27.
