An off-duty officer with the York Regional Police is facing a pair of impaired driving charges.
According to a social media post, a concerned citizen called in to report a suspected impaired driver in the area of Old Homestead Road and Kennedy Road in Georgina on Friday (Feb. 14).
“Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop,” reads a media release.
Detective Constable Brent Luckasavitch, 49, has been charged with Impaired operation and 80 plus.
The Zephyr resident has been a member of York Regional Police since 1991 and was assigned to the #3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau.
He has been suspended with pay, the press release notes.
“York Regional Police is committed to transparency and is accountable to our community,” said York Regional Police Chief Eric Jolliffe.
“When we charge a member with a criminal offence, that information is released to our community as a part of that commitment.”
