Teen killed in Omemee shooting, two in custody

An 18-year-old is dead and two people are in custody following a shooting in Omemee Tuesday (Feb. 18).

According to the OPP, emergency crews responded to assist a person suffering a gunshot wound at a residence around 1 p.m.

The victim, who has been identified as Alexander Tobin, was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

“Responding OPP members were provided with descriptors of the suspects and quickly located and arrested them,” reads a media release.

“Both accused are residents of the Toronto area and remain in custody as the investigation remains ongoing under the direction of the OPP’s Criminal Investigation Branch.”

Further information will be released as it becomes available, police noted.

“Police want to reassure the community that there is no connection between this incident and the occurrence earlier this date that resulted in two schools being placed into a hold and secure situation,” the media release reads.
