Police identify snowmobiler that entered water on Lake Simcoe

Police have identified the snowmobiler who died after entering the water on Lake Simcoe Sunday (Feb. 16).

According to the OPP, the body of 35-year-old James Tahir of Orillia was recovered by police divers around 4 p.m.

He was one of two men that entered the water. The other was rescued by firefighters and taken to hospital.

Officers were dispatched to a call reporting hearing voices screaming for help at the area known as The Narrows in Ramara Township around 4:30 a.m.
