Ramara Township woman charged following traffic complaint

A traffic complaint has led to charges for a Ramara Township woman.

According to the OPP, officers received a call for a possible impaired driver on Atherley Road on Monday (Feb. 10).

The vehicle was located and stopped, police said.

“A Drug Recognition Expert was utilized and determined that the driver was impaired by drugs,” reads a media release.

Brandy Tonkin, 40, has been charged with impaired operation by drugs, dangerous operation and flight from police.

She is slated to appear in Orillia court on March 10.

“Police continue to rely on the public to call in suspected impaired drivers,” reads a media release.

“Many impaired drivers are caught because of socially conscious members of the public who want to keep our families safe from the tragedies caused by impaired drivers on our roads.”
