Two people from Peterborough are facing a number of charges after a motorist allegedly fled from police conducting a RIDE spot check in Kawartha Lakes over the weekend.
According to the OPP, officers were stopping vehicles on Kawartha Lakes Road 8, just east of Bobcaygeon, on Saturday (Feb. 1) around 9:45 p.m.
Police say a motorist failed to pull over to the side of the road when asked and fled from the area.
“Officers pursued the vehicle a short distance and observed the driver exit the vehicle and flee on foot. The vehicle stopped in a snowbank and a passenger was arrested in the vehicle. The driver was located and arrested a short time later,” a media release reads.
Bradley Vienneau, 27, has been charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, operation while prohibited and fail to comply with recognizance.
He was held pending a bail hearing.
Trisha Brown, 46, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
She is scheduled to appear in Lindsay court on March 5.
