An 18-year-old from Scugog is facing charges after allegedly setting a barn on fire in Blackstock last week.
According to the DRPS, officers and firefighters responded to a large barn fire on Church Street on Saturday (Jan. 25).
“The Fire Marshal’s Office concluded their investigation and the damage to the structure was approximately $500,000. Members of the North Division Criminal Investigations Bureau conducted a parallel investigation and were able to identify the suspect responsible for the arson,” reads a media release.
“An 18-year-old was arrested for the arson and was also charged with other offences stemming from an ongoing dispute with the owners of the property.”
Shayne King has been charged with two counts of assault, assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous, utter threats to damage property, utter death threats, attempt to choke, mischief to property over $5,000 and arson causing damage to property.
He was held for a bail hearing.
