There’s no shortage of winter fun lined up in Beaverton on Saturday (Feb. 1).
The Beaverton Lions Club’s annual winter carnival gets underway bright and early with a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Beacan Presbyterian Church, while a community bake sale gets underway at 9 a.m. in the church’s central hall.
The outdoor activities on Simcoe Street and Old Mill Park – which include wagon rides, mini putt, ice slides, Zorb balls, crazy skis, face-painting and a barbecue – are set to open at 10 a.m.
Volunteers from the Beaverton Thorah Eldon Historical Society will be serving up a hot lunch 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Meeting Place.
Other activities lined up for the day include a scavenger hunt (from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. starting at Pirate’s Pizza), along with a tug of war (from 11:30 a.m. to noon at Old Mill) and a kids’ donut-eating contest (from noon to 12:30 p.m.).
The day wraps up with family skating at the arena from 1 to 3 p.m.
Those looking to take part can purchase a carnival button in advance for $2 from local merchants or Lions members. They will cost $3 on the day of the event and will be available at the pancake breakfast.
