Three facing charges following thefts from Orillia businesses

Three people are facing a litany of charges after police responded to a report of a theft in progress at a business on Murphy Road in Orillia.

According to police, officers responded shortly after 1 p.m. on Monday (Jan. 20) after an employee reported that the males were in the store and had stolen several items.

“Upon seeing the police the males attempted to flee police. All three males were arrested shortly after initial contact,” reads a media release.

“Further investigation revealed that the suspects were involved in theft from other businesses on Murphy Road and Monarch Drive in Orillia.”

Christopher Chenny, 27, of Richelieu, Ontario has been charged with four counts of possession of property obtained by crime, three counts of theft under $5,000, one count of theft over $5,000 and breach of probation.

Malick Konde, 25, of LaSalle Quebec has been charged with four counts of possession of property obtained by crime, three counts of  theft under $5,000, one count of theft over $5,000, obstruct police and breach of Justice of the Peace recognizance.

Jose-Luis Paez-Grenier, age 26, of Lachine, Quebec has been charged with four counts of possession of property obtained by crime, three counts of theft under $5,000, one count of theft over $5,000, obstruct police, three counts of breach of Justice of the Peace recognizance and breach of probation.

All three were held in custody pending a court appearance in Barrie.
