
A 30-year-old man from Oshawa man has been charged with human trafficking following an investigation by police in Peterborough.
According to a media release, the Peterborough Police Service’s Special Victims Unit engaged in a proactive human trafficking investigation on Wednesday (Jan. 22).
“Through the investigation, which included the use of social media platforms, a female victim was identified,” the media release reads.
Officers reportedly located the female victim and through the investigation it was revealed that she was being trafficked.
A suspect was arrested in the area Lansdowne Street West around 8 p.m., police said.
Tristan Haughton of William Street West in Oshawa has been charged with traffick in persons.
He was held in custody pending a court appearance.
