Ingersoll man dead following collision on Highway 401 in Newcastle

A 40-year-old man from Ingersoll is dead following a three-vehicle collision on Highway 401 East in Clarington Tuesday (Jan. 21) morning.

According to OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt, the incident occurred around 5 a.m. near the Mill Street exit and involved three commercial vehicles – two transport trucks and a flatbed.

In a social media post, Sgt. Schmidt noted that one of the transports was disabled on the shoulder when it was hit by the flatbed. The two drivers had reportedly exited the vehicles when the third truck became involved.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 remains closed for the police investigation and clean-up, with motorists urged to use the 35/115.
