Lindsay man charged after allegedly stealing items from two businesses

A Lindsay man is facing charges after allegedly stealing items from a pair of businesses.

According to police, the man entered a store on Kent Street West and placed several pieces of merchandise in a bag he was carrying on Sunday (Jan. 12).

“The man left the business without paying for the items, and set off an anti-theft sensor as he walked past the store checkout. One hour later the man returned to the store and was recognized by an employee,” reads a media release.

“The Kawartha Lakes Police Service was contacted and the man was arrested.  Further investigation revealed that the man had stolen merchandise from a second Lindsay area store in his possession as well.”

Jody Hallett, 39, has been charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and failing to comply with the conditions of his probation order.

He was slated to appear in Lindsay court on Monday (Jan. 13).
