Region approves four-way stop in downtown Cannington

Durham Region has approved the addition of a four-way stop at Cameron and Laidlaw streets in Cannington.

Though no timeline for the project has been released, Brock Township Mayor Debbie Bath-Hadden confirmed that the Region’s works department had approved the request at Monday’s (Jan. 6) committee of the whole meeting.

She noted that the Township has long sought a solution to ease traffic safety concerns through the village’s downtown core.

“We’ve been working diligently with the Region,” Mayor Bath-Hadden said.

The Region has also agreed to conduct a review of traffic safety issues in downtown Beaverton and Cannington, she added.
