A Wasaga Beach man has been charged with murder following the death of an Orillia woman back in July.

According to the OPP, 55-year-old Robert Sampson has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Tracey Reid, 45.

He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Dec. 18.

Police responded to a report of an injured person outside of a Davey Street residence in Orillia shortly before 6 a.m. on Friday, July 19.

“Officers responded to the scene where a female victim was located. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased,” reads a media release.

The victim was later identified as Reid.

An investigation into her death was undertaken by the Orillia OPP Crime Unit and Central Region Forensic Identification Services, under the direction of Detective Inspector Chris Landry of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
