Thirteen groups receive grants through Township’s charity golf tournament

Thirteen groups are sharing more than $13,000 worth of funding through Brock Township’s annual charity golf tournament.

The bulk of the money was raised at the 21st annual tournament, held back in June at Cedarhurst Golf Club in Beaverton.

The Township received 14 applications for funding this year, though one was not considered as it didn’t meet the grant criteria.

This year’s recipients include:

Beaverton Curling Club — $1,750 for youth curling program;

Beaverton Figure Skating Club – $848.50 hand-held pole harness;

Brock Minor Hockey — $2,000 for cross-ice boards;

Beaverton Town Hall Players — $1,000 for youth and junior theatre program;

Brock Youth Centre – $562.50 for youth employability skills training;

Cannington and Area Historical Society – busing for high school museum program;

Cannington Horticultural Society — $600 for youth challenge;

1st Cannington Scout Group — $908 for outdoor equipment and program resources;

Cedarhurst Golf Club — $1,290 for junior golf clubs;

Durham West 4H Association — $500 for improvements to youth events;

McCaskill’s Mills Public School — $692 for a replacement oven for expansion of Health Snack program;

Precious Minds Support Services — $1,000 for summer day camp program; and,

Sunderland Stingerz — $1,560 for jerseys, rings and first aid kits.
