An Ajax man has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing incident in Oshawa on Saturday (Dec. 7).
According to police, officers were called to a disturbance inside the Smoke Ways convenience store on King Street East in Oshawa around 4:30 p.m.
“A male was inside the store when he became enraged and began knocking over shelves. The male then left the store and got into a physical altercation with a second male outside,” reads a media release from police.
“During the fight, the victim’s cellphone fell to the ground. The suspect grabbed the phone and began walking away. When the victim confronted the accused, the accused rushed at the 53-year-old victim and stabbed him several times.”
Officers arrived and located the victim in the north part of the parking lot. He was rushed to a Toronto trauma centre with multiple, serious injuries and is in stable condition.
“Officers searched the area, but no arrests were made,” the media release reads.
“ The suspect attended the front desk of Central East Division in downtown Oshawa on Sunday at approximately 5:30 p.m. and turned himself in.”
Tyler Dupont, 26, of Knapton Avenue in Ajax has been charged with attempt murder, robbery, possess weapon for dangerous purpose and mischief.
He was held for a bail hearing.
