
A call from a concerned citizen helped police track down an alleged impaired driver in Lindsay Tuesday (Nov. 19) afternoon.
According to police, the resident called in shortly before 3 p.m. to report that they had just witnessed a truck and trailer collide with a parked vehicle on Cambridge Street South.
“When officers arrived to investigate, they found the truck and driver, parked a short distance away from the collision,” reads a media release from police.
“The investigating officer determined the driver of the truck was impaired and placed him under arrest.”
Jonathan Hutchinson, 30, of Lindsay has been charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
He is slated to appear in Lindsay court on Jan. 2, 2020.
“Tips from the public are an integral part of our community and police service working together to keep the Kawartha Lakes safe,” the media release concludes.
“If you suspect you see an impaired driver, please telephone 911 as soon as it is safe for you to do so.”
