Arrest warrant issued in connection to theft of heavy equipment

The DRPS has issued an arrest warrant for a man in connection to the theft of heavy equipment and trailers throughout the GTA.

According to police, officers made several attempts to locate 26-year-old Avin Bose of no fixed address in relation to several thefts of construction equipment in Oshawa, Ajax, Markham and Bradford from Oct. 5 to 7.

“The suspect attended the Home Depot stores in these locations and using fraudulent identification and documents, he rented Skid Steers and a trailer from all of the locations and never returned them,” reads a media release from police.

“On Oct. 9, a rental vehicle used by the suspect – a Ford F-150 – was located on Highway 48, north of Bethesda, fully engulfed in flames. The total loss of the vehicle, trailers and Skid Steers are valued at just over $200,000.”

Bose is known to have lived in the Hamilton area, but his whereabouts are unknown at this time, police say.

“Investigators do not believe there is a threat to community safety, but want Bose to contact a lawyer and turn himself in. It is an offence for any friend or acquaintance to aid and abet him while he is wanted by police,” the media release reads.

He is wanted for six criminal charges, including arson, personation with intent, fraud under $5,000, use credit card and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Anyone with new information about his location is asked to contact Det. Price of the Financial Crimes Unit at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 5353.
