A number of sidewalks in Brock will once again be bearing signs that note they aren’t maintained through the winter months.
Maintenance levels haven’t changed – the municipality is simply marking sidewalks that can’t be maintained by current equipment due to their condition or narrow width.
Back in March, members of council reviewed a revised version of the Sidewalk Master Plan that showed it would cost nearly $4.5 million to bring the Township’s existing sidewalks up to snuff.
While the overall goal is to have a sidewalk on every street in the municipality, the estimated cost does not include installing sidewalks on streets that currently don’t have them.
More than $270,000 was set aside for sidewalks during budget deliberations, including $110,000 held over from 2018.
