Argument over recycling leads to assault charge for Peterborough woman

A 52-year-old woman from Peterborough has been charged after a recycling company worker was allegedly assaulted with a weapon.

According to police, the victim was confronted by an irate female customer after the victim advised her that her mixed recycling would not be taken

β€œIt was reported that during the incident the accused struck the victim in the face with a bag of newspapers and books from her recycling bin. The incident was later reported to police,” reads a media release.

As a result of an investigation, police say officers attended a Peterborough home on Saturday (Nov. 16) and arrested a suspect.

Carmel Teresa Simmons of Summerhill Drive has been charged with assault with a weapon.

She is scheduled to appear in Peterborough court on Dec. 12.
