Man charged after allegedly fleeing from police in Lindsay

A man police say fled from officers twice earlier this month has been charged.

According to Kawartha Lakes Police, officers located the driver who had allegedly fled from police last week, as well as the vehicle used, Wednesday (Nov. 13) morning.

As per the original release, officers first spotted the vehicle speeding on William Street North in Lindsay at approximately 1:10 p.m. Nov. 8.

“The officer attempted to follow the vehicle and activated his emergency lights. The vehicle did not stop for the officer, but instead accelerated, turning west onto Pottinger Street,” reads the media release.

“The officer did not pursue the vehicle.”

Police say they later received a call of a suspicious man and vehicle parked behind a church on Victoria Avenue North.

“When an officer arrived at the church to investigate he observed it was the same vehicle that had fled from police a short time before,” the media release continues.

“As the officer approached the suspicious vehicle, the driver immediately accelerated, drove across the lawn of the church and fled on Victoria Avenue.”

Macguire Joseph Webster of Severn will appear in court in Lindsay on Dec. 18.
