Male driver, 44, dead after Scugog collision

A 44-year-old man was pronounced dead at a local hospital after a head-on collision in Scugog Saturday (Nov. 9).

Durham Regional Police were called to Simcoe Street and the 3rd Line in Scugog Township, just before 2:30 p.m., for a two-vehicle collision.

According to police, a white Chevrolet Aveo travelling southbound had veered into the path of a northbound Mazda CX5.

The 68-year-old female driver of the Mazda suffered severe injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

The driver of the Aveo was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Members of the Collision Investigation Unit were called and the roadway was closed for several hours to collect evidence and conduct their investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

Police would like to hear from any witnesses to this collision who have not already spoken to police.
