Driver allegedly fails to stop for police, twice, in Lindsay

Police in Kawartha Lakes are searching for a motorist that allegedly failed to stop for officers on two occasions Friday (Nov. 8) afternoon.

According to police, an officer first spotted the vehicle speeding on William Street North in Lindsay around 1:10 p.m.

“The officer attempted to follow the vehicle and activiated his emergency lights. The vehicle did not stop for the officer, but instead accelerated, turning west onto Pottinger Street,” reads a media release.

“The officer did not pursue the vehicle.”

A short time later, a witness contacted police to report a suspicious man and vehicle parked behind a church on Victoria Avenue North.

“When an officer arrived at the chruch to investigate he observed it was the same vehicle that had fled from police a short time before,” the media release reads.

“As the officer approached the suspicous vehicle, the driver immediately accerted, drove across the lawn of the church and fled on Victoria Avenue.”

The vehicle is described as a white, four door Honda Civic, while the driver is described as a white male, between the ages of 20 to 30 years old, clean shaven wearing a dark toque, dark jacket and sunglasses.
