Police investigating arson at Orillia business

Police are investigating an arson at an Orillia business Thursday (Nov. 7) afternoon.

According to the OPP, officers were dispatched to a business on Mississaga Street East in Orillia after receiving reports that someone was starting a fire.

“Police arrived on the scene and observed the business to have a small amount of damage to the outside of the building,” reads a media release.

“The Orillia Fire Department was on scene and quickly extinguished the fire.”

A 30-year-old Orillia man was taken into custody at the scene without incident, police said.

“The investigation will continue and an updates will be issued as information is made available,” the media release reads.
