A tow truck operator is dead following collision on Highway 12 in Scugog Thursday morning (Nov. 7).
Sgt. Kerry Schmidt of the OPP says the incident occurred between Scugog Line 2 and Line 3 around 8 a.m. this morning.
According to Sgt. Schmidt, the tow truck operator was at he scene assisting a stranded motorist when another vehicle lost control and hit him.
The operator, a 56-year-old man from Oshawa, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Drivers are urged to slow down and drive for the conditions, particularly when conditions are less than ideal.
“And obviously when you see flashing lights, red blue or amber lights from tow trucks, slow down, move over, give them space. They’re trying to clear the scenes, clear the highways and make it safe for everybody else. But sadly now, we’re dealing with a fatality,” says Sgt. Schmidt.
