An Uxbridge man has been charged with impaired driving following a crash in Oshawa Thursday (Oct. 24) that left a portion of Simcoe Street closed for the better part of a day.
According to the DRPS, officers were called to the serious three-vehicle collision on Simcoe Street and Howden Road shortly after 5 p.m.
“The suspect was driving westbound on Howden Road when he allegedly ran a stop sign at a high rate of speed and struck a U-Haul vehicle. The U-Haul vehicle lost control and struck a third vehicle,” reads a media release from police.
“A hydro pole was also damaged during the collision which caused road closures and hydro outages affecting numerous residents in the area.”
The suspect sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
“The other involved persons sustained minor injuries,” the media release reads.
Logan Smith, 31, of Zephyr Road in Uxbridge has been charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and drug, operation while impaired exceed blood alcohol concentration and dangerous operation of a conveyance.
He was released on a promise to appear.
The road re-opened around 2 p.m. Friday (Oct. 25).
