A 35-year-old man has been charged following the alleged sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl in Whitby.
According to police, officers were called to the area of Craydon Drive and Dundas Street in Whitby shortly after 3:30 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 17).
“An 11-year-old girl reported she was inappropriately touched by an unknown male who passed her as she walked home along the sidewalk,” reads a media release from police.
“A short time later the suspect was seen coming out of a nearby residence and he was arrested and charged.”
Akil Webb-Brathwaite has been charged with sexual assault and sexual interference with a person under 16.
He was held for a bail hearing.
