
A 24-year-old Oshawa man died following an accident on Simcoe Street in Oshawa Saturday (Oct. 12) afternoon.
According to police, officers responded to a collision involving a motorcycle and van near Beatrice Street around 12:40 p.m.
“A red Kawasaki motorcycle was travelling southbound on Simcoe Street North and a silver Dodge Caravan was exiting a plaza, heading northbound on Simcoe Street North from the west side. The Kawasaki struck the Dodge on the driver side,” reads a media release from police.
The driver of the motorcycle, Justin Jones of Oshawa, was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
“The driver of the Dodge was not hurt and is cooperating with investigators,” reads a media release from police.
Roads in the area were closed for several hours for the police investigation.
