The Cannington Foodland is set to re-open Thursday (Oct. 10) months after the business was gutted following a fire.
The grand re-opening celebration gets underway at 9 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and in-store promotions.
The business has been closed since a fire broke out around 6 a.m. on Dec. 24, 2018 after a freezer malfunctioned. While it was quickly extinguished, none of the stock – worth an estimated $250,000 – could be salvaged and it caused a significant amount of smoke damage to the interior of the store.
“I would like to thank all of our customers for their patience,” said franchise owner Rod Skinner in an interview earlier this year.
