DRPS posts memorial tribute to police service dog

The DRPS posted a touching tribute to a retired police service dog that passed away this week.

According to the post, PSD Blitz passed away surrounded by his handler’s (Detective Constable Wes King) family.

“Thanks for your great service, Blitz,” the post reads.

“Blitz was responsible for locating hundreds of subjects during his illustrious 10-year career,” added a post from the DRPS Canine Unit.

Condolences poured in from residents across the region and police organizations across the province.

“Our condolences to the DRPS Canine Unit team and all those who had the chance to interact with PSD Blitz, who surely made a positive impact during his service to Durham Region,” reads a post from the Police Association of Ontario.

“Please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of PSD Blitz,” reads a post from the South Simcoe Police.
