Police officer allegedly sucker-punched at Lindsay Ex

Police are searching for a suspect that allegedly sucker-punched an officer at the Lindsay Exhibition Friday (Sept. 20).

According to Kawartha Lakes Police Service, two officers attempted to break up a fight between a group of young people at the fairgrounds around 10:45 p.m.

“As one officer attempted to remove a man away from an ongoing disturbance, another person approached the officer from behind and punched the officer in the face,” reads a media release from police.

“The officer was knocked to the ground and sustained minor injuries.”

Police are appealing for witnesses to this assault to come forward and investigators would also like to review cell phone video that may have been taken of this incident.
