Man suffers life-threatening injuries in single-vehicle collision

A 29-year-old man remains in hospital after being pulled from a burning vehicle in Georgina.

York Regional Police are looking for witnesses after responding to a serious single-vehicle collision on Old Homestead Road just east of Weir’s Sideroad just before 1 a.m. Friday (Sept. 13).

When police arrived at the scene, they reportedly located a BMW sport utility vehicle off the roadway and on fire. Officers pulled a 29-year-old male driver out of the burning SUV. Police say the man was suffering from life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains.

The investigation is ongoing and any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police or who may have dashcam footage of the incident or the driving behavior prior to the collision, are asked to come forward.
