Ajax man charged in connection with alleged plot to murder Jamaican couple

An Ajax man has been charged after an investigation into an alleged plot to murder a couple living in Jamaica.

According to police, the DRPS received information from the RCMP in May of a plot to murder two Jamaican residents.

“The DRPS Homicide Unit began a co-ordinated investigation into this murder plot with the assistance of the RCMP, FBI and the Major Organized Crime and Anti-Corruption Unit based in Jamaica,” reads a media release from police.

“Investigation confirmed that a Canadian citizen had travelled to Jamaica in mid-May 2019 to help plan the murder. The murders did not proceed and the Jamaican couple were unharmed.”

Police say the Ajax man was arrested while driving in the Highway 401/Brock Road area of Pickering around 7 a.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 3).

Fitz Hutchinson of Camilleri Road has been charged with conspiracy to murder and counselling offence that is not committed.

He was held for a bail hearing.
