A 26-year-old Mississauga man was pronounced dead following a crash on Taunton Road, west of Brock Road, in Pickering Thursday (Aug. 29) morning.
According to police, officers were called to the accident around 8:15 a.m.
“A black BMW was westbound on Taunton Road and the black transport truck, a loaded car carrier, was eastbound. The black BMW crossed over the centre line and struck the black transport truck in a near head-on collision,” reads a media release from police.
The Mississauga man, who was driving the BMW, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released by police.
The driver of the truck, a 44-year-old Pickering male, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The road was closed for several hours for the police investigation.
“This is the 10th fatality on roads patrolled by the DRPS in 2019. Last year at this time, there had been 14 fatalities,” the media release reads.
