A total of 25 charges were laid after police in Kawartha Lakes conducted a traffic safety initiative geared towards commercial vehicles.
According to police, ‘Operation Safe Trucking’ took place from Aug. 18 to 24 and focused on all aspects of enforcement for commercial vehicles weighing more than 4,500 kilograms.
The charges laid included speeding (15), document (six), follow too close (two) distracted driving (one) and another moving violation (one).
“All motorists are reminded that speed, inattentive driving, impaired driving and failure to properly wear seat belts are contributing factors to serious and fatal motor vehicle collisions,” reads a media release from police.
“Do your part to keep our roadways safe.”
