Woman sustains life-threatening injuries after ATV flips in Clarington

A 27-year-old woman sustained life-threatening injuries in an ATV accident in Clarington Sunday (Aug. 11).

According to police, officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision involving an ATV near a private residence on Reid Road in Clarington shortly before 6:30 p.m.

“The 24-year-old male driver of the ATV was heading back to the residence when the ATV lost control and flipped on top of the driver and passenger. Witnesses were able to free the victims,” reads a media release from police.

“The driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The passenger was air-lifted by air ambulance to a trauma centre in Toronto where she remains in critical condition.

Police say the driver and passenger were not wearing helmets at the time of the collision.
