Uxbridge woman succumbs to injuries sustained in accident last week

A 25-year-old Uxbridge has died in hospital from injuries sustained in an accident last week.

Shortly after 5:30 a.m. last Wednesday (Aug. 7),  officers responded to a single-vehicle collision on Sandford Road near Uxbridge Concession Road 2.

Witnesses told police that the woman’s vehicle, a white Chevrolet Malibu, was eastbound on Sandford Road prior to the collision. She reportedly lost control of the vehicle which then left the roadway and rolled over before coming to rest on the passenger side.

She was rushed by ambulance to a local hospital before she was taken by air ambulance to a Toronto-area trauma center.

Her name is not being released at her family’s request.

The road was closed for several hours for the investigation. Police say the cause of the collision is still actively being investigated.
