Woman in critical condition after collision in Uxbridge

A 25-year-old woman from Uxbridge was seriously injured in a motor vehicle collision in Wednesday morning (Aug. 7).

Shortly after 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, Durham Regional Police responded to a single-vehicle collision on Sandford Road near Uxbridge Concession Road 2.

Witnesses told police the involved vehicle, a white Chevrolet Malibu, was eastbound on Sandford Road prior to the collision. The driver of the Malibu reportedly lost control of the vehicle which then left the roadway and rolled over before coming to rest on the passenger side.

According to police, the 25-year-old driver of the Malibu was found inside the Malibu with serious injuries. She was rushed by ambulance to a local hospital before she was taken by air ambulance to a Toronto-area trauma center where she remains in critical condition.

The road was closed for several hours for the investigation. Police say the cause of the collision is still actively being investigated.
