A DNA match has resulted in the arrest of a second suspect in an armed robbery more than a decade ago.
According to police, People’s Taxi on Finley Avenue in Ajax was robbed by two armed males in Aug. 2007.
“One male was arrested, charged and convicted by a jury for his involvement. The second male was never identified,” reads a media release from police.
“An item of clothing found at the scene was sent to the Centre of Forensic Sciences (CFS), where a DNA profile was generated.”
Police say a match was recently made that led to the arrest of a 30-year-old Pickering male, who was 18 at the time of the robbery. He’s been charged with armed robbery, disguise with intent and weapons dangerous and was held for a bail hearing.
“His name is withheld due to privacy legislation,” the media release from police reads.
