The Beaver River is an incredibly significant natural area in the Lake Simcoe watershed.
Meandering from the Oak Ridges Moraine, the river flows through Sunderland, Cannington and Beaverton. The river plays a major role in filtering pollution, storing and replenishing water, and regulating climate. It also provides a critical ecosystem for wildlife including blue herons, red-winged black birds, muskrats, beavers, brook trout, large-mouth bass and small-mouth bass.
The river provides great opportunities for fishing and bird watching.
