Scarborough man charged following break-in at Portage Road home

A Scarborough man is facing multiple charges after police were called to a break-and-enter in progress in Kawartha Lakes Wednesday (July 10).

According to the OPP, officers were dispatched to a residence on Portage Road (Kawartha Lakes 48) in relation to an unknown person removing a television from the home, which was unoccupied at the time.

“While en route, officers observed the suspect vehicle and were able to get it stopped,” reads a media release.

The ensuing investigation led to the arrest of the driver, 30-year-old Erin Pegnam, who has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus); break and enter a dwelling house – commit an indicatable offence; possession property obtained by crime under $5,000; theft under $5,000; mischief under $5,000 and drive motor vehicle, no validation on plate.
