Three people were taken to hospital – including one with critical injuries – following an accident on Highway 48 at Regional Road 23 (Lake Ridge Road) on Friday afternoon.
While few details have been released by police, the accident occurred around 4 p.m. and involved a transport truck and car.
“It’s a bad way to start the weekend,” said Brock Township Fire Chief Rick Harrison.
Local firefighters were joined at the scene by their counterparts from Georgina, as well as the OPP, Durham Regional Police Service, York Regional Police and paramedics from Durham and York regions.
The highway is closed between Pefferlaw Road and Regional Road 23 (Lake Ridge Road) though no official detour route has been shared by police through social media.
