A Toronto area man and a Lindsay woman are in custody following a short police pursuit on Wednesday (June 19) night.
According to police, an officer spotted a vehicle that had previously been reported stolen to police while on general patrol on Lindsay Street South shortly after 11 p.m.
“The officer followed the vehicle onto Mill Street and then attempted to stop the vehicle by activating their emergency equipment. The vehicle made numerous attempts to evade police until it was eventually successfully stopped in a Lindsay Street South parking lot, where the male driver and female passenger were taken into custody,” reads a media release from police.
“Two police vehicles received damage while attempting to stop the stolen car.”
Michael Thomas, 24, of no fixed address in Toronto and Zoe Azzopardi, 29, of Lindsay have been charged with numerous criminal charges, including flight from police, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and failing to comply with a probation order.
Both were remanded into custody after a bail hearing at the Lindsay court.
