Jessica Phoenix will be leading Canada’s eventing team into the 2019 Pan Am Games.
The news, announced by Equestrian Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee on Wednesday (June 19), comes as little surprise as the township resident has previously captured individual gold and team silver at the Pan Am Games in 2011 as well as individual silver and team bronze in front of a hometown crowd in Toronto in 2015.
“I am extremely honoured to have the chance to ride Pavarotti at a third Pan Am Games for Canada,” Phoenix said in a media release.
“We have had an extensive career together and it is such a blessing every time I get to compete with him. I can’t wait to ride on this team. Go Canada!”
In addition to her success at the Pan Am Games, Phoenix is also a two-time Olympian and a member of the Brock Township Sports Hall of Fame.
