Sunderland PS students being kept indoors after bear spotted on River Street

Students at Sunderland PS are being kept indoors after a small black bear was spotted on River Street Tuesday (June 18) morning.

“As a precaution we are in a hold-and-secure situation,” reads a social media post from the school shortly before 11 a.m.

“Keeping students indoors for recesses.”

“Administrators at the school are currently taking direction from the DRPS. We will let you know of any updates, and when the Hold & Secure has been lifted,” reads a posting from the Durham District School Board.
