A man is facing a number of charges after officers allegedly located roughly 25 pounds of cannabis as well as hash oil during a traffic stop.
Police say that officers observed a man wanted for breaching conditions driving along Watson Street in Whitby at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Sunday (June 16).
“Police conducted at traffic stop and the male fled in the vehicle before being boxed in by police. He then attempted to flee on foot before being arrested and charged,” reads a media release.
According to police, officers located over 11,200 grams of cannabis along with hash oil, cash and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.
“It’s estimated the drugs are worth over $110,000,” reads a media release.
“They also found several pieces of fraudulent identification.”
John Sterjovski, 20, of Watson Street East in Whitby has been charged with two counts of possess cannabis for the purpose of selling, possession of cannabis for the purpose of distributing, fail to comply with recognizance as well as single counts of flight from peace officer, fail to comply with probation order and operate a conveyance while prohibited.
He was held for a bail hearing.
