All three public beaches in Brock posted by the health department

All three public beaches in Brock Township have been posted for the upcoming week as unsafe for swimming due to elevated bacteria levels.

While one other location, Elgin Pond in Uxbridge, has been posted, three beaches throughout the region – Bowmanville Beach East, Lakeview Beach West in Oshawa and Newcastle Beach Central – were not tested due to high water levels and debris in the area.

“The health department will continue to monitor access to these beaches in the coming weeks and begin normal sampling when the area is considered safe,” a media release from the health department reads.

“The health department reminds the public not to swim in beach water for at least 48 hours after heavy rainfall, as bacteria levels can increase due to run-off.”
