A 21-year-old woman was apprehended by police after attacking her parents with a knife in their bedroom early Wednesday (June 12) morning.
According to police, officers were called to a home in the Thickson Road and Manning Road area of Whitby around 12:45 a.m.
“The two parents were in bed when they were attacked by their 21-year-old daughter, who was armed with a knife. The mother was not injured and the father received several minor puncture wounds. The daughter then left the residence,” reads a media release from police.
“A responding officer located the female walking on Manning Road, carrying a large knife. She was apprehended at gunpoint without incident and was taken to a local hospital for a mental health assessment.”
Police say she will be charged with two counts of assault with a weapon as well as possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace.
Her parents did not require medical attention.
