A 17-year-old Waterloo man is also facing charges in relation to the incident, which saw upwards of 30 bullets fired into a Subway restaurant. Police say one person was shot, causing non-life-threatening injuries, and two others suffered minor injuries.

Alexander was arrested in Toronto in early May and charged with second degree murder in relation to the death of 22-year-old Perlmutter on March 27.

According to police in York Region, Perlmutter was shot in the parking lot of a business at Queensville Side Road and Highway 48 in East Gwillimbury. He was driven from the scene by a witness and died a short time later in the parking lot of a church on the Ninth Line in Whitchurch-Stouffville.
