Twelve motorists were charged with impaired driving in Durham over the weekend, including a pair of Oshawa residents that were seen switching seats in a vehicle.
According to police, officers were called to the area of Baldwin Street and Winchester Road West in Whitby for a possible impaired driver shortly before midnight on Friday (May 24).
Air1, the police helicopter, was able to locate the vehicle.
“It had struck a curb and became stuck. Air1 observed the driver and passenger of the vehicle switching seats. The second driver was able to get the vehicle free and fled the scene,” a media release reads.
“Officers located the vehicle and both drivers were arrested at a residence in Oshawa.”
Felicia Bianchet, 29, and Ian Gibson, 30, both of Nearco Crescent in Oshawa have both been charged with impaired and exceed. They were released on a promise to appear.
